Disinfection of mains services/building

Water Utility companies will not allow the connection of the new mains pipe onto their system until the new pipe work has been disinfected, a certificate of disinfection issued and independent UKAS microbiology analysis completed and passed in relation to the local water authorities own specification to prevent the contamination of the water supply.
The external mains disinfection is vital (and a mandatory requirement)to maintain the quality of the drinking water supply, it applies to all newly laid supply pipework that is over 50m in length or has an internal diameter greater than 50mm regardless of the length.
The internal pipework disinfection (mains injection) is the process of disinfecting and pre-commissioning cleaning of the building's internal hot and cold water domestic system (including all pipework and water storage tanks). This ensures the water systems are safe to supply potable/wholesome water to outlets for drinking water and showers.
